The Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert of thunderstorm and lightning after strong winds lashed many areas in Delhi on Thursday night. Winds at the speed of 70-90kmph in Delhi and dust storm may also blow in many areas.
At the same time, except Gujarat, there is pre-monsoon effect in all other states. Hail along with rain fell in Rajasthan’s Alwar, Kotputli-Behror, Sriganganagar on Thursday. A tree fell on a car outside the hospital in Jaipur.
There was rain along with thunderstorm in 12 districts of Bihar. 9 people including husband and wife died due to lightning in Khagaria, Saharsa, Madhepura. It rained in 52 cities in pre-monsoon in UP. Apart from this, it also rained in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Punjab.
Monsoon has entered Bihar on Thursday. It has also progressed in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Since its entry in Kerala on June 4, monsoon has reached 17 states in 8 days. It is likely to reach Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Odisha in the next 2-3 days.

Heavy rain alert in 27 states
Today there is an alert of heavy rain in 22 states. These include Rajasthan, MP, UP, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Tamil Nadu, Keralam, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, West Bengal, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura, Mizoram, Manipur and Nagaland. There is yellow alert for rain in all the states except Gujarat.

No respite from heat, mercury crosses 40°C in 11 states
Despite the rain, the mercury remained above 40°C in many cities of UP, Delhi, Rajasthan, MP, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Punjab, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Telangana and Haryana. The highest mercury in the country was recorded in Bhatinda, Punjab. The temperature here was 46.2°C. Whereas the mercury was recorded at 44.6°C in Sriganganagar of Rajasthan, 43.4°C in Jhansi of UP, 44.5°C in Wardha of Maharashtra and 43°C in Khajuraho of MP.

13 June:
- There may be rain with thunderstorm in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. Strong winds with a speed of 50-70kmph are expected.
- There is a possibility of hailstorm along with rain in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
- There will be rain in Keralam, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and northeastern states. Heavy rain is expected in the coastal districts of Karnataka and Kerala.
June 14:
- There may be thunderstorms in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Winds can blow at a speed of 50-70kmph at many places.
- There is a possibility of hailstorm in some areas of Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Uttarakhand and Jammu and Kashmir.
- There may be rain with strong thunderstorm in Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha. Heavy rain is expected in some parts of Bihar.
- There may be rain in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. There is a possibility of hailstorm at some places in Madhya Pradesh.
