Senior Congress leader from Bihar and former Union Minister of State Dr. Shakeel Ahmed resigned from the primary membership of the party on Tuesday. He sent his resignation to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and said that he has taken this decision with a heavy heart.
Shakeel Ahmed Wrote in his letter, “I still have full faith in the ideology and principles of the Congress. My resignation does not mean that I am joining any other party. The last vote of my life will also go to the Congress.”
from Bihar MadhubanDr. Ahmed, who belongs to Sri Lanka, has been MLA thrice (1985-90, 1990-95, 2000-04) and MP twice (1998, 2004). He was also the President of Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee from 2000 to 2003. Before this, he had also worked as Health Minister in Bihar government.

Due to differences within the Congress in the Bihar unit and dissatisfaction with the state leadership, he decided to leave the party. According to sources close to him, he was angry with his neglect in the organization for some time.
Speaking to PTI, he said, “With a heavy heart, I have decided to resign from the membership of the Congress Party. My resignation does not mean that I will join any other party… Like my ancestors, I have full faith in the ideology and principles of the Congress Party, and I will always be a supporter of these ideologies and principles. I assure you, the last vote of my life will also go to the Congress.”
Dr. Shakeel Ahmed’s political family has been associated with Congress for three generations. His grandfather Ahmed Ghafoor became an MLA in 1937, while his father Shakur Ahmed was a five-time MLA from 1952 to 1977.
