The theft took place on Thursday between 2 pm and 2.30 pm. The cleaning staff of the temple noticed that the crown was missing from the head of the goddess. After this, Shyamnagar police was informed about this. Inspector Taijul Islam of Shyamnagar police station told Bengali newspaper The Daily Star that they were examining the CCTV footage of the temple to identify the thief.
