Know the process of removing the Speaker of Lok Sabha…

Article 94(c) of the Indian Constitution gives the Lok Sabha the right to remove the Speaker from the post by passing a resolution if the majority of the House wishes.

• Under Article 94 (C), for the removal of the Lok Sabha Speaker, it is necessary to give written notice at least 14 days in advance.
• The notice is given to the Secretary General of the Lok Sabha. After this it is discussed and voted on in the House.
• A simple majority is required for the motion to be passed. During this period the Speaker himself does not preside over the House.
• Birla will be present in the House as a Lok Sabha member during the discussion and voting on the proposal, but will not preside over the proceedings himself. In his place, the Deputy Speaker or other members will be present who will run the House.

Difficult to pass proposal to remove Speaker Birla, government has majority

According to the rules, the proposal to remove the Speaker is passed by a simple majority in the Lok Sabha. In the current Lok Sabha, NDA has the support of more than 290 MPs, so it is difficult to pass the proposal. The Speaker himself will not preside over the House during the discussion on the motion, but he will have the right to present his views and vote.
