The third film of the Mardaani franchise once again collides with the darkest and scariest truth of the society. This film is not just a police investigation, but a direct attack on heinous crimes like kidnapping of young girls, human trafficking and exploitation of humans in the name of medical research. This time too, Shivani Shivaji Roy is seen fighting alone against the nexus of system, crime and greed. The story of the film begins in Bulandshahr, where two innocent girls Jhilmil and Ruhani are kidnapped. Rohani is the daughter of an ambassador, while Jhilmil is the daughter of a servant working in the same house. This case is not limited to just kidnapping, but during the investigation, a sinister network of trafficking of small girls and organized crime gradually comes to light. Considering the seriousness of the case, the investigation is handed over to NIA and the responsibility is given to SSP Shivani Shivaji Roy. As the investigation progresses, Amma, the leader of a beggar mafia, comes to light, who makes innocent girls a part of a very sensitive and inhuman business, as the layers of which are revealed, the story becomes more unsettling. Meanwhile, Shivani meets Ramanujan, a social worker working against the beggar mafia. His fingers were cut off by the mafia in his childhood. A series of raids begin on Amma’s hideouts, but just before the interval, Amma issues an open challenge to Shivani. From here the story turns into a game of checkmate. After the interval the story reveals many layers. A big mystery related to Ramanujan’s character comes to light, which indicates that behind this crime there is not just smuggling, but also something which powerful people use for their own benefit. The question is whether Shivani will be able to break this entire network and whether she will be able to reach this inhuman truth. Rani Mukherjee acting in the film once again proves that the Mardaani franchise stands on its own. His body language, intensity of eyes and dialogue delivery make the character completely believable. Mallika Prasad has created awe as Amma. Her character scares in many scenes and she is seen giving equal competition to Rani. Prajesh Kashyap in the role of Ramanujan is the biggest surprise of the film. His character takes unexpected turns and gives a new direction to the story. Janaki Bodiwala has given a balanced performance in the role of Fatima. Jisshu Sengupta makes an impact in his limited role. Direction and technical aspects of the film: Abhiraj Minawala’s direction keeps the story serious and unsettling. The twists and turns are effective at many places, although after the interval the film feels dragged at some parts. The cinematography is strong. The choice of colours, low-light frames and close-up shots accentuate both the brutality and sensitivity of the story. The action scenes feel real and not artificial. Music in the film: There is no song in the film and there was no need for it. The background music is intense and maintains an atmosphere of tension and fear in every scene. Final Verdict on the film: Mardaani 3 is an important and shocking film, which boldly exposes the inhuman exploitation of small girls like kidnapping, trafficking and in the name of medical research. Strong acting, strong background score and an impressive climax make the film worth watching. Despite weak dialogues and a slightly stretched screenplay, the film forces the audience to think and be uncomfortable.
