Border 2, set against the backdrop of the Indo-Pak war of 1971, is not just a war film but a story of courage, sacrifice and collective strength of the Indian forces. This film takes forward the legacy of the first Border and expands its scope and shows that that war was not limited to Longewala alone, but was fought on all three fronts – land, air and sea.
story of the film
The story moves on many fronts simultaneously. Indian soldiers deployed in different areas, different conditions, but same goal – defense of the country. The film shows how Pakistan tried to attack from multiple directions and how every attempt failed in front of the intelligence, strategy and courage of the Indian soldiers.
The story is both emotional and serious. It is not limited to just bullets and explosions, but also brings out the fear, trust and duty going on within the soldiers. Some scenes are a bit long, but they add depth to the story and keep the viewer engaged till the end.
acting in film
Sunny Deol is the biggest strength of the entire film. His dialogue delivery is so powerful that it forces applause and whistles on many occasions. His aggressive style, the passion visible in his eyes and his patriotic fervor give height to the film. This is Sunny Deol seen in his full colours.
Diljit Dosanjh is the soul of the film. Even in serious and tense scenes, he keeps the atmosphere balanced with his natural acting and light humor. His character feels human and creates a relatability amid the harshness of war.
Varun Dhawan looks composed and serious. He has given strength to his character without any noise and has left an impact in the emotional scenes.
Ahan Shetty’s role is small, but he has attracted attention with his acting. Enthusiasm and honesty are clearly visible.
The character of the heroines of the film is very limited, which is a bit irritating, but this is because the story is completely focused on the war and the experiences of the soldiers.
Direction and writing
Anurag Singh’s direction is balanced. He has created the perfect balance between emotions, dialogues and war scenes. There is patriotism in the writing, but not unnecessary noise. Many dialogues go straight to the heart and strengthen the story.
Cinematography and Sound
The cinematography is gorgeous. The battlefield, explosions and movement of soldiers are shown very effectively. The sound is also strong, which further increases the seriousness and thrill of every scene.
music
Music supports emotions. It was not easy to touch the legacy of old memorable songs, yet the new songs are according to the mood of the story. Some songs touch the heart, although it was naturally difficult to leave a deep impression like before.
Final decision on the film
Border 2 is a gorgeous, emotional and impactful war film. Despite some drag and limited female characters, the strong acting, strong direction and impactful story make it worth a watch.
After finishing this film, it leaves a feeling of pride, honor and respect for the Indian soldiers.
