Actor and Lok Sabha MP from Meerut, Arun Govil raised his voice in favor of film industry workers during Zero Hour in the winter session of Lok Sabha on 16 December 2024. He had demanded improvement in the condition of daily wage laborers, technicians and small artistes working in the film industry and better working conditions for them. During a special conversation with Dainik Bhaskar, Arun Govil said that I want to express my gratitude to our respected Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Labor and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya. After raising the film industry’s concerns in Parliament, Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw took note of the issue. The Labor Minister also paid due attention to this, and I have been continuously following up on this matter since then. Arun Govil further said- The thought came to my mind that I should do something for my industry. After this I spoke to Film Federation President BN Tiwari and asked what are the issues before us and whether any presentation has been given on this till now. He told me that some presentations had already been given. Then I sat and discussed with him, took out important issues and one day presented all those issues before the Parliament. This will bring change in the film industry. I believe that change is always for the good. This will provide security, social security and economic security. Apart from this, there will also be improvement in working hours, payment and other important things related to work. Overall, there will be positive change in all these matters. Let us tell you that the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has been raising the issue of improving the conditions of daily wage laborers, technicians and small artistes working in the film industry for a long time. Which includes matters related to working hours, health, safety and timely payment.
