On February 15, there was a stampede at New Delhi railway station due to falling goods on the head of a passenger. Passengers fell on the stairs due to falling goods. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav gave this information in the Rajya Sabha on Friday. However, the Railway Minister in his statement did not use the word ‘stampede’.

18 people lost their lives while 15 people were injured in the accident. On a question of Samajwadi Party MP Ramji Lal Suman, the Railway Minister shared the report of the High Level Committee.

On 15 February, there was a huge crowd of passengers at the New Delhi railway station to visit Prayagraj to join Mahakumbh. The Railway Minister had told the Lok Sabha in March that about 49 thousand general tickets were sold at the railway station on the day of the accident. It was 13 thousand more than a daily average.
