After US President Trump, Pakistan has now supported China’s claim of mediation during ‘Operation Vermillion’. In fact, China had said on December 30 that it had played an important role in reducing the military tension between India and Pakistan in May 2025.
In response to a question related to China’s claim, Pakistani Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said in a press briefing on Thursday that Chinese leaders were in constant touch with the Pakistani leadership in those days. He also had some talks with the Indian leadership.
Andrabi described these efforts as diplomacy for peace, prosperity and security. He said that Pakistan fully supports the statement of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
This is the first statement by Pakistan in which it has clearly accepted China’s mediation role, whereas earlier Pakistan had given credit for the ceasefire only to US President Donald Trump.
Pakistan had earlier given credit to Trump for resolving the conflict.
The Government of Pakistan had nominated Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize. Pakistan said that Trump’s diplomatic initiative and mediation during the India-Pakistan war helped avert a major war.
The Pakistani government had said in its official statement that Trump played an important role in the ceasefire by talking to both New Delhi and Islamabad. This averted the possibility of war between two nuclear power countries.
Pakistan had also appreciated Trump’s offer of mediation on the Kashmir issue.
Pakistani Chief of Defense Asim Munir and PM Shahbaz Sharif reached the White House in September.
Chinese Foreign Minister claims – China solves the world’s conflicts
This statement of Pakistan has come after the statement of China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi. At an event organized in Beijing, Wang Yi said that China has been helping to resolve many conflicts in the world.
He told that China had also mediated during the tension between India and Pakistan.
India has already rejected the role of third party
Contrary to the claims of China and Trump, the Indian government has already clearly stated that no third country had any role in this entire matter. India says that this tension ended only through direct talks between the armies of India and Pakistan.
According to India, the Pakistani military officer had contacted the Indian military officer after suffering heavy losses.
India says that Pakistan’s Director General of Military Operations spoke to the Indian DGMO and after this both the countries agreed to stop all types of military actions on land, air and sea from May 10.
After this new claim of China, discussion has started again about its role, because relations between China and Pakistan are considered very close.
China is the country that supplies the most arms to Pakistan, hence questions have been raised as to how impartial it can be in this matter.
There was a military confrontation between India and Pakistan in May
This statement of China is regarding the time when there was a military confrontation between India and Pakistan in May this year.
During this period, India had targeted many terrorist and military bases of Pakistan, due to which a total of 11 airbases were damaged.
India carried out this attack in response to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir on April 22, in which 26 tourists were killed.

Pakistan is improving relations with China
Pakistan is continuously trying to improve relations with China. According to the recent report of Pentagon, China has given 36 J-10C fighter aircraft to Pakistan since 2020.
Apart from this, both the countries are jointly making JF-17 fighter jet. Pakistan is also getting Chinese drones and naval equipment.
China and Pakistan also held joint anti-terrorism military exercises in December 2024. The report also says that in future, Chinese military bases may be built in Pakistan, which will increase China’s presence near India’s borders.
According to the report, China’s Western Theater Command, which oversees the front with India, conducted special military exercises in high altitude areas in 2024.
