Lieutenant General Sadhana Saxena Nair was made the Director General of the Medical Service of the Army on July 2024.

For the first time in the history of India, mother-son will get the President’s honor together. Today, on the occasion of 26 January, Lt Gen Sadhana S. Nair and his son Tarun Nair will be honored by President Draupadi Murmu.

Lieutenant General Sadhana S. Nair, VSM will be awarded AVSM. At the same time, his son squadron leader Tarun Nair will be awarded the Shaurya Chakra.

Lieutenant General Sadhana S. Nair will be awarded the Ati Specific Service Medal (AVSM) for his service, while his son squadron leader Tarun Nair will be given the Air Force Medal (Gallantry) for bravery and courage in the Indian Air Force.

On Saturday, on the eve of Republic Day, President Draupadi Murmu approved the Bravery Award to 93 soldiers of Armed Forces and Central Armed Forces. These include 2 Kirti Chakra (1 posthumous) and 14 Shaurya Chakra (3 posthumous).

Sadhana is the first woman DG of Army Medical Service Lieutenant General Sadhana Saxena Nair was made the Director General of the Medical Service of the Army on 31 July 2024. She is the first woman to work in this position.

Sadhana was made the Director General (DG) of Hospital Services (DG) after being promoted to the post of Air Marshal in the Air Force in October 2023. She was also the first female officer to be appointed to this post. Sadhana is the second female medical officer of the Air Force, who has reached the air martial rank.

Earlier, Sadhana was transferred to Delhi from the Air Force Training Command Command Bangalore Head Quarter. At the same time, her husband KP Nair has retired from the DG post of Inspection and Flight Safety in 2015. In this way Sadhana and KP Nair are the first couple in the country to reach the air martial rank.

Flight Lieutenant Tarun Nair awarded ‘Air Force Medal’ Flight Lieutenant Tarun Nair, fighter pilot of MiG-29 Squadron, will be awarded the ‘Air Force Medal (Shaurya)’ for their amazing bravery and skill. Despite several technical malfunctions in the MiG-29 aircraft during a tough flight on 12 March 2024, he safely landed the aircraft. Aircraft control faced serious problems during the flight, but Tarun Nair postponed a major accident, performing patience, skills and excellent decision abilities.

Three generations related to Air Force Air Marshal Sadhana Saxena Nair’s family has a connection with the Air Force for 3 generations. Sadhana’s father and brother were also doctors in the Indian Air Force. His son is posted as a fighter pilot (flight lieutenant) in the Air Force.
