पर्सनैलिटी राइट्स के लिए बॉम्बे हाईकोर्ट पहुंचीं शिल्पा शेट्टी: बिना इजाजत तस्वीरें इस्तेमाल करने और मोर्फ्ड फोटो सर्कुलेट होने पर रोक लगाने की मांग

After many celebs like Karan Johar, Aishwarya Rai, Hrithik Roshan, now Shilpa Shetty has also filed a petition in the Bombay High Court for personality rights. It has been said in the petition that his photographs are being used in many websites without permission. Besides, her morph pictures are also being used in promotional activities.

Speaking to Hindustan Times, Shilpa Shetty’s lawyer Sana Raees Khan said, ‘Mrs. Shilpa Shetty has made her mark with years of hard work and no one can use her photographs and her image without her permission. Their identity is being misused for illegal commercial gains. We are taking away their personality rights. We have moved the Bombay High Court to stop this misuse and prevent their identity from being used as a commodity.

In the Personality Rights petition, names of 27 unknown people who circulated morphed pictures of Shilpa Shetty have also been registered.

These celebs also acquired personality rights

Before Shilpa Shetty, in October, Hrithik Roshan had filed a petition for personality rights in the Delhi High Court, after which his personality rights have been secured. Before him, Sunil Shetty and filmmaker Karan Johar filed a petition in the Delhi High Court for personality rights. He had demanded a ban on the publicity being done through his photographs.

Earlier, the petitions of Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan were also accepted and their personality rights were secured.

This campaign was started by Amitabh Bachchan in the year 2022 and he took the rights of his voice and pictures.

After them, in 2023, Anil Kapoor and Jackie Shroff have taken the rights of pictures and voices including their catchphrases Jhakkas and Bhidu.

What is personality right?

This is a right related to the personality of a man or woman. Which has got protection under the right to privacy. Famous people have exclusive rights over things related to their photos, voice and personality. Sometimes some companies use it without their permission. Which is wrong. If a celeb takes personality rights, then if their pictures are used without permission, then they can complain about it.
