1. Challenge to the sacrilege law of AAP government
The new sacrilege law of Punjab government has been challenged in the High Court. Jalandhar resident Simranjeet Singh has filed this petition. He says that only one religion is mentioned in this law while other religions are not mentioned. In such a situation, it is a violation of the secularism of the country.
Apart from this, due to the sections of BNS and punishment up to life imprisonment, the approval of the President is necessary for this, but the government has implemented it only after taking the approval of the Governor. This petition has been filed today itself. A hearing on this may take place soon.
Let us tell you that in the new law, the government has made a provision for punishment up to life imprisonment for sacrilege. However, it only mentions the sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib. There is no provision in the law regarding sacrilege of Hindu, Muslim and Christian scriptures. This bill was passed in the special assembly session on 14 April. 3. Encounter in Chandigarh, criminal shot

There was an encounter between the operation cell of Chandigarh Police and a miscreant in Chandigarh on Wednesday morning. About 5 rounds were fired from both sides. He has been admitted to Sector-16 hospital in injured condition.

The arrested criminal Mukesh Golu used to supply illegal weapons. He used to bring weapons from Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh and supply them to Punjab and Haryana. 4. Punjab government’s petition rejected in BBMB case

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has rejected the petition filed by the AAP government of Punjab regarding Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB). The court said that the hearing in this case had already taken place last year. The government should present its views before the central government. This petition was filed when BBMB had decided to provide 8500 cusecs of additional water to Haryana.
The Punjab government had challenged this decision of BBMB in the High Court. The Punjab government said that Haryana has already used its entire share, hence no more water should be given to it. The government also said that BBMB does not have the legal authority to give more water than the prescribed share to any state.

Eventually on August 21, 2025, US federal agents arrested him in California and he was extradited back to Canada in September 2025.
Police have captured the dashcam footage of Baljeet’s truck, in which he is seen playing Ludo. 10. Juice bar owner started selling illegal liquor
