A 27 year old girl of Punjabi origin duped 17 people of Rs 41 lakh (60 thousand dollars) in the name of rent in Canada. After receiving the complaint, Peel Regional Police arrested him. The arrested girl, Savreet Kaur, is a Canadian citizen and is living in Brampton. Peel Regional Police has released the photo of the girl and has written that people should see it and be alert from this swindler. Police said that the girl showed her houses in different locations on different social media platforms. Told them to give them on rent. The rent for each house was said to be around $1700. People started talking about the girl after seeing the house on social media. The girl took the payment by deceiving people. When people reached the given addresses with their belongings, people were already living at the given addresses. Peel Regional Police were contacted after the fraud was discovered. Police registered a case and investigated the matter and found out that the girl had committed rent fraud by showing someone else’s house. After this the police arrested the girl. This arrest was made on July 13. On July 22, the police shared information with the media. Know how the girl cheated 17 people. Police arrested her on 13th July. After the investigation was completed and the fraud was confirmed, the police arrested Savreet Kaur on 13th July. He is being held in the custody of the Ontario Court of Justice pending a bail hearing. Peel Regional Police are warning the general public, immigrants and new renters to use extra caution when searching for rental properties on social media. The police have advised that before transferring the money, go and see the property yourself. Do not send any kind of advance payment without thorough verification.
