US President Donald Trump has been honored with the prestigious ‘Architect of Peace Award’ by the Richard Nixon Foundation. The award was established in 1995 following the death of President Richard Nixon to honor individuals who have furthered his lifelong goal of promoting global peace.
Before this, no current or former US President had personally participated in this ceremony. However, in recent years, this honor has also been given to members of the exiled royal family of Iran.
The relationship between the Trump family and the Nixon Foundation has been longstanding. On October 19, Trump’s son Eric Trump promoted his book “Under Siege: My Family’s Fight to Save Our Nation” at the Nixon Presidential Library. The event was moderated by Nixon’s grandson Christopher Nixon Cox, in which Eric Trump discussed his father’s policies and presidency.
Iran’s exiled royal family also received an award
This 2024 award was presented by the Foundation to Queen Farah Pahlavi of Iran and Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi. There have also been personal conversations between Nixon and Trump.
Earlier also some former presidents received awards
In 2020, an exhibit at the Nixon Library featured personal letters written between them, symbolizing their friendly relationship. Previous recipients of the award include former US Presidents Gerald Ford, George H.W. Bush and George W. Leaders like Bush have been involved.
