Sushila Karki studied at BHU

Sushila Karki, who was the first woman Chief Justice of Nepal, has done a Masters in Political Science from Banaras Hindu University (BHU). He started his career in advocacy in 1979.

Sushila Karki was the Chief Justice of Nepal from 11 July 2016 to 6 June 2017. In 2017, impeachment was brought against him. He was then accused of prejudice and intervention in the executive.

No judge becomes PM in Nepal for the second time

Sushila Karki is not the first person who has become an interim PM after becoming a judge. This was the first time in 2013, when an election government was formed under the leadership of Chief Justice Khadraj Regmi.

After the disintegration of the first Constituent Assembly, political deadlock (blockage) was born in the country. To solve this, all political parties compromised and gave Regmi the responsibility of forming the government. His government conducted elections and after that a second Constituent Assembly was formed.

Reduction in violence on fifth day, hotel industry lost ₹ 16 billion

The movement, which began on September 8 against social media ban and corruption, killed 51 people, while more than 1500 were injured. However, violence has decreased on the fifth day.

Nepal’s leading channel Kantipur, which was burnt by protesters on Wednesday, started again on Friday. At the same time, after the curfew was relaxed in some parts, the movement of people started with several check points of India-Nepal’s open border.

Due to this violent movement, Nepal’s hotel industry has suffered a major setback. According to media reports, about 20-25 hotels across the country were demolished, looted or set on fire. This led to a loss of more than 25 billion Nepali rupees (16 billion Indian rupees) to the hotel industry.

The capital Kathmandu has reduced violence on the fifth day, but the precautionary army is still deployed.
