Israeli fans were attacked after a football match in Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands, on Thursday night. During this, fans were beaten up. At least 10 people have been injured in the attack. Of these, 5 had to be admitted to hospital. Due to this, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has sent a plane to bring the fans back.
On the other hand, Amsterdam Police has so far arrested 62 people in the case. Police posted on social media platform ‘X’ that they have started investigating the attack.
However, the police has not given information about the people arrested. It is also not clear where and when the violence started after the match. Police said that the rioters involved in the attack sought out Israeli fans and attacked them. Both the Netherlands and Israel have condemned the attack.

Netanyahu said – cannot ignore the attack
PM Netanyahu’s office issued a statement regarding the attack on Israeli fans. The statement said that the pictures of the horrific attack on our citizens cannot be ignored. Describing this as a serious incident, Netanyahu asked the Netherlands government to take strict steps in the matter.
At the same time, Netherlands PM Dick Scoof posted a letter on ‘X’ and wrote that the attack on Israeli civilians cannot be accepted. Scoof said that he has spoken with the Israeli PM. He also assured to find the criminals and take action against them.
Israel’s Ambassador to the UN has also condemned the attack.
The rally in support of Palestine was banned Palestine supporters were planning to rally near a football stadium in Amsterdam. However, Amsterdam Mayor Femke Halsema had banned the rally due to fear of clashes between protesters and fans of the Israeli football club.
Police had stopped the protesters from marching towards the Johan Cruyff Arena stadium. Even before the match, some people had torn the Palestinian flag near a building in Amsterdam.
Amsterdam police will patrol the city for the next few days following the attack. Apart from this, the security of the areas where Jewish people live will also be increased. These attacks were carried out in different parts of the city.
