Political developments have intensified over the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji that fell two days ago at Rajkot Fort in Sindhudurg, Maharashtra. Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aditya Thackeray and BJP MP Narayan Rane reached the Rajkot Fort (where Shivaji’s statue was) with their supporters at the same time. Here the supporters of both clashed with each other.

On Wednesday morning, Aditya Thackeray was discussing with his supporters at the fort. Meanwhile, Narayan Rane reached Rajkot Fort with his son Nilesh Rane and BJP workers. He started arguing with the police officers posted here. After this, Rane’s supporters clashed with Thackeray supporters. There was a scuffle between the two.

According to media reports, BJP workers had first raised slogans against Thackeray, which angered Thackeray’s supporters. After the incident, Thackeray said – What happened here was unfortunate. Politics should not have been done on Shivaji Maharaj’s fort.

A 35-foot statue of Shivaji Maharaj was built in the Rajkot Fort located in Malvan in Sindhudurg district, about 480 km from Mumbai.

PM inaugurated it 8 months ago
The statue of Shivaji Maharaj fell on August 26 at 1 pm. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated it on Navy Day on December 4, 2023. Police have registered an FIR against contractor Jaideep Apte and structural consultant Chetan Patil in the case. The Indian Navy had said that an investigation into the incident has been ordered. The cause of the statue falling will be known soon. A team has been formed to repair and re-install the statue.

CM said- the statue fell due to strong wind
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said – The wind was blowing at a speed of 45 km per hour, due to which the statue fell. The Navy had designed and constructed the 35 feet high statue of Shivaji Maharaj. We will rebuild it in a strong way. PWD and Navy officials will investigate the incident.

PWD minister said- Navy was informed about rusting of steel
PWD Minister in Maharashtra Government and BJP leader Ravindra Chavan said that Maharashtra Government had given Rs. 2.36 crore to Navy for the installation of Shivaji Maharaj’s statue. However, the entire process of selection of artist to make the statue and its design was done by Navy.

Chavan said that the order to build the statue was given on September 8, 2023. The steel used in the statue had started rusting. The PWD had already written a letter to the Navy officials informing them about this and instructed them to take concrete steps.
