The Muslim side has reached the Supreme Court against the decision of the Madhya Pradesh High Court in the Dhar Bhojshala case. On Thursday, the Muslim side has filed a Special Leave Petition (SLP). In its order about 6 days ago, the High Court had considered the Bhojshala complex located in Dhar as an ancient religious place associated with Vagdevi (Saraswati) temple. Sadar Abdul Samad of the Muslim community said that there is disappointment in the community with the decision and it has been challenged calling it one-sided. Senior advocate Salman Khurshid will demand early hearing in this case and stay on the High Court order. Some important facts were not presented correctly before the court. What was the decision of the High Court? Madhya Pradesh High Court had said in its order that the Bhojshala complex is a temple historically associated with Goddess Saraswati. The court considered the report of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), historical evidence and legal principles of the Ayodhya case as its basis. The High Court had also said that the Central Government and ASI should take a decision on the management and conservation of this site. Also, the 2003 order of ASI was cancelled, in which prior arrangements regarding puja and namaz were made. Referring to the 700 year old tradition, Abdul Samad said that Friday prayers have been offered in Kamal Maula Masjid for almost 700 years. He said that the society is saddened by this tradition being affected, but the fight will be fought completely within the constitutional and legal ambit. After the decision, the police force in the district is on alert and security has been tightened around the Bhojshala premises. The administration has appealed to both sides to maintain peace.
