The weather is continuing to be stormy in the country. The Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rain alert in 19 states including Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan on Sunday (August 18). Very heavy rain is expected only in West Bengal.
On Saturday, two brothers were swept away in the Yamuna river in Agra, Uttar Pradesh. They were residents of Firozabad district. Divers recovered the bodies of both.
The weather department has predicted heavy rains in all districts of Odisha till August 20. Floods are expected in 30 districts. The state government has ordered the DMs of all districts to remain on alert mode. On Sunday, a yellow alert for rain has been issued in 6 districts of Odisha. The state government has asked fishermen to stay away from the sea from August 17 to 20. Do not go fishing.
Cloudburst again occurred in Rampur, Shimla, Himachal Pradesh on Saturday night. Due to this, there was a lot of damage due to flooding on Rohru-Rampur road. 132 roads including National Highway are closed in the state. Apple orchards have also been damaged.
Due to a landslide near Negulsari sliding point in Kinnaur, connectivity with Shimla has been cut off. Roads are closed due to landslides in Chamba. Officials said that this is the second incident of cloudburst in Rampur after July 31.
The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for heavy rains at different places in the state till August 23. There is a possibility of floods in Chamba, Kangra, Mandi, Shimla and Sirmaur districts on Sunday.
32 deaths in cloudburst incidents in Himachal
- In Himachal Pradesh, a cloud burst occurred in Kullu, Mandi, Shimla districts on the night of 31 July. Due to this, more than 56 people were swept away in these districts.
- The death toll in the accident has risen to 32. Four more bodies were recovered on Friday. Officials said 14 people are still missing.
