The Indigo flight going from Delhi to Manchester returned after flying for 7 hours. An IndiGo official said flight 6E33 took a U-turn near the border of Ethiopia and Eritrea and is now heading back to Delhi.

The official said that due to the ongoing war in the Middle East, the airspace was banned at the last minute. After which the pilot had to take the decision to return midway.

This aircraft had left from Delhi on Monday morning for the United Kingdom (UK) city. This was IndiGo’s first Delhi-Manchester flight after 26 February. The long route was reopened after some time. The flight takes approximately 11 hours under normal conditions.

flight tracking service Flightradar24 According to PTI, Norse’s IndiGo flight 6E33 took a U-turn near the border of Ethiopia and Eritrea and is now heading back to Delhi.

The data shows that despite taking a route designed to avoid active conflict zones in West Asia, the aircraft returned after flying for about seven hours.

According to Flightradar24, the aircraft took an unusual southern route through the Gulf of Aden and parts of Africa, bypassing much of the Middle East’s airspace amid rising Iran-Israel tensions in the region.

In a statement, an IndiGo spokesperson said the airline had to take the decision at the last moment due to airspace restrictions imposed there.

An IndiGo spokesperson said that due to the changing situation in and around the Middle East, some of our flights may take longer routes or may be diverted.

The airline said it is currently working with authorities to determine whether travel can resume. The spokesperson further said, we are working with the relevant authorities to explore the possibilities of resuming travel.
