According to the victim, at around 1.28 pm on March 12, he had booked an Uber bike from Rohini Sector 15 to MP Block Market of Pitampura. The name of the rider was Sachin.

The victim said – The rider chose another route instead of the route shown on the map to go to Pitampura in the app. After this he started touching me inappropriately.

The victim said that when I stopped him from doing so, the rider increased the speed of the bike and started braking rapidly. I screamed out of fear and threatened to jump off the moving bike

The victim told that when I protested, the rider left me at Pitampura and ran away. He also threatened to kill me.

March 12: Dead body of girl found in Delhi hotel

At the same time, the dead body of a 25-year-old girl was found in the room of Prince Hotel in Delhi’s Lahori Gate area on the night of 12 March. The hotel staff said that as room 205 was not open for a long time, we informed the police.

When the gate of the room was opened after the arrival of the police, the girl’s body was found lying on the bed, there were traces of blood nearby. According to the police, the girl was a resident of Maujpur. She was staying in the hotel with a man named Abhishek Tiwari, who later fled from there. The youth is being searched.

Crime against women increases in Delhi

According to the National Crime Records Bureau’s Crime in India 2023 report, 13,366 cases of crime against women were registered in Delhi, which is the highest among big cities of the country.

Of these, 3,952 cases of kidnapping and 1,088 cases of rape were registered. According to the report, the police charge sheet rate in these cases was around 69.9%.

Although there has been a decline of about 5.6% in the total cases compared to 2022, Delhi still remains on top among the metro cities of the country in cases of crimes against women.
