Congress on Thursday announced the names of 21 candidates for the Delhi Assembly elections. Sandeep Dixit has been given the ticket against AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal from New Delhi seat. However, AAP has not yet announced the name of Kejriwal.

State President Devendra Yadav has been made candidate from Badli, former minister Haroon Yusuf from Ballimaran and former State Congress Committee President Chaudhary Anil Kumar from Patparganj. This list was released after the meeting of the Central Election Committee of Congress. Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi, Ambika Soni, Salman Khurshid, TS Singh Deo and Madhusudan Mistry were present in it.

According to media reports, elections may be held in Delhi in the first or second week of February. The current tenure of the 70-seat Delhi Assembly ends on February 23, 2025. Aam Aadmi Party won 62 seats in the elections held in 2020 and 67 seats in 2015.

Kejriwal contested elections from New Delhi seat thrice, won all three times. Kejriwal had defeated the then Chief Minister and Congress candidate Sheila Dikshit by 25,864 votes in 2013 from the New Delhi Assembly seat. BJP’s Vijender Kumar was at third position. Whereas in 2015, BJP’s Nupur Sharma was at second position. Congress’s Kiran Walia, who stood third, got only 4781 votes. In 2020, BJP’s Sunil Kumar was defeated by 21,697 votes. Romesh Sabharwal of Congress was at third position.

A day ago Kejriwal had said- AAP will contest elections alone. A day earlier, Kejriwal had rejected speculations of an alliance between AAP and Congress regarding the elections. He has said that AAP will contest the elections on its own. There is no possibility of any kind of alliance with Congress.

In fact, on Wednesday the news had come out that AAP is considering giving 15 seats to Congress in the Delhi Assembly elections, but Kejriwal rejected the talk of alliance through a post on X.

Raghav Chaddha also termed the news of Alliance as baseless AAP Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha said that Aam Aadmi Party will fight the upcoming Delhi elections on the strength of its organization and political strength. The news of alliance between Congress and AAP is baseless. AAP has been fighting the last three Delhi elections on its own, winning and forming the government and running it.

31 candidates of AAP declared, tickets of 24 canceled AAP has so far declared candidates for 31 seats. In the 2020 elections, AAP had MLAs on 27 seats while BJP had MLAs on 4. This time AAP has canceled the tickets of 24 out of 27 MLAs i.e. 89%.

11 candidates declared in the first list AAP’s first list came on November 21, which had names of 11 candidates. In this, tickets have been given to 6 people from BJP-Congress. These include 3 faces of BJP and 3 of Congress.

AAP released second list of 20 candidates Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday released the second list of 20 candidates for the Delhi Assembly elections.
