Canadian police said the theft was done in the style of a Netflix crime series. The gold and cash were stolen from an airport cargo centre. The gold was stolen within 42 minutes of arriving at the airport in Switzerland.

The police called it the biggest robbery in history.
Lead investigator Detective Sergeant Mike Mavity of the Peel Regional Police (PRP) said they believe a large portion of the stolen gold has gone to major gold markets overseas, where the gold is taken along with the serial numbers and then melted down.

Mavity said all this must have happened immediately after the incident. Peel Regional Police (PRP) had earlier described this theft as the biggest gold robbery ever in Canada. This theft was named ‘Project’.

Giving information about the arrests in this case, the police had said that this theft was carried out with the help of 2 employees of the airline. Now a case is going on against these employees. The police said that they have received information that this gold was melted and gold bracelets were made and then they were sold.

Gold worth Rs 14 crore stolen from plane
This was not the first time gold was stolen from Pearson Airport. A similar incident occurred on September 25, 1952, when 4 out of 10 boxes of gold were stolen from a flight arriving from Toronto to Montreal.

The value of the stolen gold was Rs 14 crore. It was the biggest theft in Canadian history at that time. This theft could not be solved till date. The police could never complete the investigation of this theft in the plane.

In 1974 also, gold worth Rs 27 crore was stolen
In 1974, a case of open theft of gold came to light in Canada. During this time, gold worth Rs 27 crore was stolen from Ottawa airport. It was kept in a room.

According to the New York Times report, at 11:30 pm, the thieves threatened the room guard with a gun and tied him to a pipe. Later it was found out that this was the work of a gang named Stopwatch. They cleverly carried out the thefts at fixed times.

Three people were arrested in this case. One of them was famous by the name of ‘Ghost’. The reason for this was that after committing the theft, he used to easily escape by mixing himself in the crowd.
