Tejas fighter jet is manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).
Armenia has stopped talks to buy Tejas fighter jet from India. According to Israeli media Jerusalem Post, this decision was taken four days ago on Friday after the crash of Tejas at the Dubai Airshow. Indian pilot Wing Commander Namansh Sial was killed in this accident.
Armenia was preparing to buy 12 Tejas aircraft from India for about $ 1.2 billion (₹ 10 thousand crore). This deal was in the last stage. This could have been Tejas’s first foreign deal.
However, no official statement has come from the Armenian government on this entire matter. The Government of India has also not commented on this report yet.
Tejas is different from other fighter jets because of 4 features
At present, the top fighter jets in the Indian Air Force fleet include Sukhoi Su-30MKI, Rafale, Mirage, MiG-29 and Tejas. Due to these characteristics, Tejas is different and special from the other four fighter jets…
First: 50% of the components i.e. machinery of this aircraft have been manufactured in India.
Second: Israel’s EL/M-2052 radar has been installed in this aircraft under modern technology. Because of this, Tejas is capable of tracking and hitting 10 targets simultaneously.
Third: Ability to take off on a very short space i.e. 460 meter runway.
Fourth: This fighter jet is the lightest among these four i.e. only 6500 kg.

Tejas jet will replace MiG-21 in Indian Army
The Tejas jet is designed to replace the Indian Air Force’s aging MiG-21 aircraft. So far the Air Force has received only 40 Tejas aircraft of the first installment.
Now the development of an advanced version of Tejas, A1, has started, which will include many modern features. Many of its systems have been developed by Israeli companies.
Tejas A1 will be fitted with Israeli company IAI-Elta’s AESA radar, electronic warfare system and Elbit’s new helmet-mounted display. Along with this, Derby missiles made by Rafale will also be installed in the aircraft.
PM Modi himself has flown in Tejas fighter plane. He flew in it on 25 November 2022. This was the first flight of an Indian Prime Minister in a fighter plane.

How the accident happened in Dubai Air Show
The aerial display was going on on the last day of the Dubai Air Show on Friday afternoon at around 2:10 pm (3.40 pm Indian time). During this time, Indian Air Force’s fighter aircraft Tejas was doing low-altitude maneuver.
Then suddenly its altitude decreased and within a few seconds the plane fell to the ground. The plane exploded and caught fire on the spot. In this accident the pilot died on the spot.
Tejas also crashed in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan in March 2024, but then the pilots ejected safely. This is the second accident of Tejas in 20 months.
