The 35th anniversary of Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama receiving the Nobel Peace Prize was celebrated with pomp in McLeodganj, Himachal Pradesh. On this occasion, the Security Minister of the Central Tibetan Administration, Dolma Gari, expressed deep respect for the Dalai Lama on behalf of the Kashag.

The Central Tibetan Administration appreciated the Dalai Lama’s commitment to promoting human values, religious harmony and global ecology. He criticized China’s education policies, which replaced Tibetan with Chinese and forced nearly one million Tibetan children to attend colonial boarding schools, stripping them of their cultural heritage.

The Central Tibetan Administration stressed Tibet’s important role in maintaining the global ecological balance and the environmental damage caused by China’s exploitation of the region. Tibetans in exile have successfully preserved their culture, while those living in Tibet suffer from Chinese oppression.

The Central Tibetan Administration is committed to finding a peaceful solution to the Sino-Tibet conflict through a middle way approach while advocating genuine autonomy for Tibetans. The Central Tibetan Administration announced plans to observe the Dalai Lama’s 90th birthday (July 6, 2025 – July 6, 2026) globally as the “Year of Compassion”. He condemned China’s anti-Dalai Lama campaigns and human rights abuses in Tibet, highlighting that more than 1.2 million Tibetans have died and more than 6,000 religious and cultural institutions have been destroyed due to the Chinese occupation.

Despite these heinous acts, the Dalai Lama does not harbor any animosity towards Chinese leaders and prays that they gain the wisdom to differentiate between right and wrong. Tibetans, who strongly believe in the power of compassion, believe that even hostile and recalcitrant Chinese leaders will eventually be influenced by this universal truth.
