After Turkey adopted Pakistan’s support and anti -India stance, IndiGo has decided to end its partnership with Turkish Airlines. The Directorate General of Aviation (DGCA) on Friday informed that IndiGo’s ‘Damp Lease’ agreement will be terminated by 31 August 2025. This decision has been taken under the last three months and the only defense given by the government, so that the service of the passengers is not interrupted.
Currently, IndiGo is operating direct flights from Delhi and Mumbai to Istanbul from Turkish Airlines to two Boeing 777-300er aircraft. This lease was originally to end on 31 May, but at the insistence of IndiGo, DGCA has extended it by three months. IndiGo had demanded to extend this lease by 6 months, but DGCA rejected it. The regulator made it clear that no more detail will be given now and this is the last chance.
Turkey supported Pakistan
In fact, Turkey recently criticized Pakistan’s support and air strikes on India’s terrorist bases. Due to which diplomatic tension has increased between the two countries. Due to this, BCAS (Bureau of Civil Aviation Security) has also canceled the security clearance of Turkish company Celebi Airport Services. Not only this, all the travel agency and online travel platforms have also issued advice not to travel to Türkiye.
‘Will work under government instructions’
According to news agency PTI and Reuters, IndiGo had earlier described this partnership in the interest of passengers, but now the company’s CEO Peter Albers said that we are currently following the rules and will work as per the government’s instructions. Please tell that last week Civil Aviation Minister K.K. Rammohan Naidu had said that the ministry is reviewing the report received from Indigo and security agencies, and a final decision will be taken on the same basis.
