Three Chinese engineers were killed in a drone attack on a gold mine in Tajikistan’s Khatlon province on November 26. Tajikistan had claimed that the drone had flown from Afghanistan.

Tajikistan said that criminal groups of Afghanistan are involved in this attack. He had asked the Taliban government to take action to stop such incidents. However, now Taliban has distanced itself from this.

Taliban said that this attack was carried out by a group which has been wanting to spread anarchy in Pakistan for a long time. After this claim of Taliban, it is not yet clear who is behind the death of Chinese engineers.

Many Chinese companies do mining work in Tajikistan.

China angry over attack on engineers

Many Chinese companies operate in Tajikistan, especially in the mining and natural resources sectors, and most of these projects are in the border area.

Chinese investment is very important economically for Tajikistan. China’s investment is not only in mining but also in power, buildings and infrastructure.

China has been angered by the attack on Chinese engineers. Apart from condemning this incident, China has warned its citizens and companies to leave the border area.

Chinese engineers have been attacked before too

The mountainous border between Tajikistan and Afghanistan is about 1,350 kilometers long. Last year too, a Chinese worker was killed in an attack near the Afghan border.

Tajikistan has been repeatedly complaining that there is infiltration of terrorists from Afghanistan and the groups present in Afghanistan try to spread instability in Central Asia.

Pakistan accused Taliban government

Pakistan also took advantage of this opportunity and accused the Taliban government of not taking concrete action on terrorism.

Pakistan said that this attack is proof of how much the threat of terrorism from Afghanistan has increased.

Pakistan said that there is a need to not allow the land of Afghanistan to become a launch pad for terrorism.

Abundant quantities of gold, antimony, silver and rare earths are found in the mines of Tajikistan.

Taliban holds Pakistan responsible

There is already tension between Taliban and Pakistan. Taliban says that Pakistan has given shelter to terrorists like ISKP and has given them the facility to run training camps.

The Taliban government has long accused Pakistan of providing land to the US for drone attacks and harboring Islamic State (ISKP) terrorists.

Afghanistan condemned the attack

After the attack, Afghanistan’s Foreign Ministry sent a message of condolence to China and Tajikistan and condemned the attack.

Ministry spokesperson Hafiz Zia Ahmed said that Afghanistan will provide full cooperation in the matter. Such as sharing information, providing technical assistance and joint investigation, so that the reasons for the attack can be found out.
