There was an explosion in a firecracker factory in Virudhunagar district of Tamil Nadu on Sunday. According to the Fire and Rescue Department, bodies of 16 people have been recovered so far in the accident. Six people were taken to hospital with serious injuries, while several others are feared buried under the debris. The explosion was so strong that cracks were reported in the buildings surrounding the factory. Fire brigade, police and relief teams reached the spot and are busy in removing the debris and rescuing the trapped people. At present the cause of the explosion is not clear.
