Actress Tanushree Dutta has raised questions over the demise of senior actor Nana Patekar and the timing of his funeral. During Instagram Live, Tanushree claimed that no one from Bollywood or media saw Nana Patekar’s mortal remains.
He has also objected to the haste in performing the last rites at 11:28 pm. Tanushree has alleged that this drama may have been staged to avoid legal cases.
Nana Patekar died of a heart attack on 8 October at the age of 75.

Questions raised on funeral in Instagram Live
Tanushree Dutta said in Instagram Live that no prayer meeting was organized to pay tribute to the people of Bollywood and media.
He said that as per the tradition of Hindu religion, cremation is usually not performed after sunset, but Nana Patekar’s last rites were performed at 11:28 pm on October 8 at a farmhouse in Donje village near Pune.
Tanushree raised questions as to what was the hurry in performing the last rites in the dark of night and whether her family had even seen her face properly.
‘Why are there no videos and photos of being taken to the hospital?’
Tanushree also raised questions on hospital related procedures in Instagram Live. He said that even when his accident happened, photos and videos had come to light.
However, not a single video or photo of Nana Patekar being taken to the hospital, declared dead there and post-mortem was conducted.
He claimed that the face was covered at the time of the funeral, due to which no one could know the truth.

Claims to be alive abroad, demands DNA test
Tanushree Dutta also claimed that the body that was cremated was not that of Nana Patekar. He feared that a fake death certificate may have been made to avoid legal cases and police investigation and the actor may be present in Singapore or Malaysia.

Tanushree Dutta won the title of Femina Miss India Universe in 2004.
Controversy started from MeToo movement
The dispute between Tanushree Dutta and Nana Patekar has been going on since 2008. Tanushree had accused Nana Patekar of sexual harassment during the shooting of a song from the film ‘Horn Ok Please’.
In the year 2018, when the MeToo (#MeToo) movement started in India, this matter again came into limelight. Tanushree’s lawyer Nitin Satpute had filed an application at Oshiwara Police Station in Mumbai in October 2018, demanding narco-analysis and lie-detector test of Nana Patekar, choreographer Ganesh Acharya, producer Sami Siddiqui and director Rakesh Sarang. However, in June 2019, the police gave a clean chit to Nana Patekar after investigation.
Nana Patekar spoke on the allegations
In an interview given to Lallantop in the year 2024, Nana Patekar was asked that he got angry when Tanushree made serious allegations against him.
On this Nana had said, “If it is a lie, then why are you angry? Now what can I say about what had happened. I did not get angry.”

On the question of FIR, Nana had said, “That is fine, whatever else happens, I have no problem with that, but now in front of any child or girl, if they say that we…he tortured us, now everyone knows what has happened to us. We don’t know anything, no, nothing had happened, so how would we have known? If it had happened, we would have told something. If someone says that you did this, what will we say? We did not. Did, what can be said other than this.”
