A fire broke out in the cargo area of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka today at 3 pm (Indian time).
The fire spread so fast that the airport authority had to immediately stop all flights. The route of the flight going from Delhi to Dhaka was changed and sent to Kolkata.
The fire service said the fire started around 2:30 pm in the cargo village near gate number 8 of the airport. No one has died so far, but there is a possibility of major loss to freight.
The black smoke was so dense that the air in the surrounding areas became bad. Experts say that it may contain poisonous gases, due to which people nearby may have difficulty in breathing.

According to officials, 28 vehicles are being used to extinguish the fire. While 8 more vehicles are coming for help.

Fire service rescue team reached the spot
Fire Service and Civil Defense spokesperson Talha bin Jashim said that rescue teams were sent to the spot as soon as the news of the accident was received. These include teams from Bangladesh Fire Service, Civil Aviation Authority, two fire units of the Air Force and Navy.
