Trump attended the US-Saudi Investment Forum on Wednesday.
US President Donald Trump has claimed that he had stopped the war between India and Pakistan by threatening to impose 350% tariff.
Speaking at the US-Saudi Investment Forum on Wednesday, Trump said, “The first call I got was from Pakistani PM Shahbaz Sharif. He thanked me on the phone and told me that I have saved millions of lives.”
After this Trump claimed that he received a call from Prime Minister Modi. “We have finished,” Modi said. Trump asked, “Are you finished?” On this Modi said, “We are not going to war.”
Trump has repeated this claim more than 60 times that the tension that eased between India and Pakistan in May was due to his interference. Whereas India has been continuously saying that no third country was involved in the ceasefire and the ceasefire happened after direct talks between India and Pakistan.

Earlier Trump had given a statement imposing 250% tariff
Earlier, Trump had also mentioned India-Pakistan tension in the APEC CEO Summit being held in South Korea on October 29. Trump said that when both the countries were fighting, I asked both of them to stop the war, but they refused.
Trump had claimed that he had threatened to impose 250% tariffs on both the countries. Two days later, both of them called and agreed to the ceasefire. During this, he also praised Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir. He described Munir as a tremendous fighter.
Deal between India and America regarding LPG purchase
India and America signed the first deal on Monday amid the tariff dispute. Under this deal, India will buy about 2.2 million tonnes (MTPA) of LPG from America. This is 10% of India’s annual requirement. This deal is only for one year i.e. 2026.
This deal has been done by India’s state oil companies – Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (HPCL) with American energy suppliers – Chevron, Phillips 66 and Total Energies Trading.
India is the second largest LPG consumer in the world. Currently, India imports more than 50% of its LPG needs and most of the supply comes from West Asian markets.
India’s energy security will be strengthened
- This deal will strengthen India’s energy security.
- Dependence on traditional sources will be reduced, which will make the supply chain more stable.
- The impact of changing prices around the world will be less.
- This will help in balancing trade with the US.
Trump’s announcement – will reduce tariffs on India
US President Donald Trump had said on November 10 that India and the US were close to finalizing a new trade agreement. He said that America will gradually reduce the tariffs imposed on India.
Trump said, ‘They don’t love me now, but they will love me again. We are getting a good deal.
On the question of reducing tariffs on India, Trump said that high tariffs were imposed on India because of buying Russian oil, but now India has greatly reduced the purchase of Russian oil. He said, ‘Yes, we will reduce the tariff.’

Trump said- I have great relations with Modi
Trump said, ‘India is one of the oldest civilizations in the world, the largest country in the world and has a population of more than 1.5 billion. Also, we have an excellent relationship with Prime Minister Modi and Sergio has further enhanced this.
Trump further said, ‘India is also the fastest growing sector, and it is an important economic and strategic security partner in the Indo-Pacific region. As Ambassador, Sergio will work to strengthen our countries’ bonds, promote investment in key American industries, increase American energy exports, and expand our security cooperation.’
50% US tariff on India, penalty on buying oil from Russia
Trump has imposed a total of 50% tariff on India so far. There is a 25% reciprocal i.e. tit-for-tat tariff and a 25% penalty on purchasing oil from Russia.
The reciprocal tariff came into effect from August 7 and the penalty from August 27. America has imposed economic sanctions on India to put pressure on Russia.
Trump has many times claimed that Russia promotes war in Ukraine with the money received from India’s oil purchases.
