The suspect who opened fire at former US President Donald Trump’s rally was killed on the spot by Secret Service snipers. He has been identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks.

According to former schoolmates, Crooks was a quiet student who often appeared aloof and was never seen discussing Trump or politics, ABC reported.

Jason Kohler, a graduate from the same school, said that Thomas was often bullied. He was quiet, but people used to trouble him a lot. He would often wear hunting clothes, due to which other children would make fun of his attire.

In a video, the attacker said- I hate Trump
A video of Crooks has surfaced in which he is saying- I hate Republicans. I hate Trump. Hate… hate… because he is the wrong person.

The FBI has said that we are trying to search Thomas’s cellphone to find out his plan. However, the agency has said that Thomas was not under FBI investigation and he does not have any criminal record. Nothing suspicious has been found in his online history as well. He used to play chess and video games online and learn coding.

After the attack, investigators searched Crooks’ house and car. They found a suspicious device in Crooks’ car. This explosive device has been kept as evidence.

Crooks attacked with the gun bought by his father
According to FBI Special Agent Kevin Rojek, the AR-style rifle with which Crooks shot Trump was purchased legally by his father. However, it is not yet clear how the shooter got the rifle. Rojek also said that Crooks did not show any signs of mental illness.

The ideology of the shooter is not clear yet
The FBI said that they are investigating this incident as a murderous attack and a possible act of terrorism. The shooter has carried out this incident alone. His ideology is not yet clear. Nor is it known which side he was politically inclined.

Meanwhile, Pentagon spokesperson Major General Pat Ryder said that no military connection of Crooks has been found. According to news reports, he was associated with the Republican Party, but some time ago he had also donated to the Progressive Political Action Committee, which has the ideology of the Democratic Party.

The accused’s social media account was found, but it was not used
Social media platform Discord said it had identified an account linked to the accused, although the account was not used frequently.

A spokesperson said: “We have not found any evidence that Crooks ever used the account to plan the event, promote violence or discuss his political views.”
