Hiten Tejwani has worked in shows like ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’, ‘Kutumb’ and ‘Pavitra Rishta’.

TV actor Hiten Tejwani recently shared many things about his career. He told how difficult it is to survive in the TV industry. Hiten said that sometimes he had to work for 22 hours without a break and slept on the floor on the sets.

Hiten Tejwani told Siddharth Kannan, “I have worked very hard in the last 25 years. When I started working, I would go home only to take a bath and change clothes. I hired many drivers, but all of them ran away because they could not bear my working hours. I used to drive myself and often fell asleep while driving. Once I hit the car divider, but by the grace of God, nothing happened.”

He told that once he had worked in double shifts for a month continuously. He said, “I did 30 extra shifts for 30 consecutive days. At that time, when I personally went and took a check of Rs 1 lakh, I felt very happy. I thought that if I had been in a normal job, I probably would not have been able to earn so much so quickly.”

Hiten Tejwani is currently playing the character of Karan Virani in the show 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2'.

Hiten further said that the timetable of TV shooting is only in name. He said, “Our shifts were from 9 am to 9 pm, but the shooting would often go on till 5 am. Sometimes the next shift would start at 7 pm. That means we had to work for about 22 hours. Some crew members would turn off the lights so that I could sleep for a while, and I would sleep right there on the floor of the set.”

Now the camera captures everything: Hiten

Hiten said that now it is difficult to do such work because now the camera captures everything, even if someone is tired, it is clearly visible.

Talking about Deepika Padukone’s alleged demand for 8-hour shifts, Hiten said, “I think balance between work and private life is very important. Deepika is a mother and it is good that she is clear about her working hours. Some people say yes while signing the contract and later create problems on the sets.”

Hiten told that there is a lot of work pressure in the TV industry. “I have worked 72 hours straight many times. Once the schedule was 30 days, but I got paid for 45 days because my first shift was from 7 am to 7 pm and the second was from 7 pm to 2 am.”
