After the firing case involving Tiger Shroff in Mumbai, concerns regarding security have increased in the film and TV industry. The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has appealed to producers and production houses to strengthen security arrangements on shooting sets. The federation has said that the identity and background of every person working on the set should be checked. Additionally, entry control at studios and shooting locations should also be strengthened.

FWICE made it clear that crew verification should not be considered merely a paper process. It should be made an essential part of the security system. Its purpose is to protect actors, directors, technicians and other employees from possible danger.

It is necessary to check the identity of the crew and documents.

FWICE has asked production houses to exercise caution in hiring people whose identity and professional records have not been verified. The federation has also advised to keep accurate records of crew members and conduct separate background checks on them, if necessary.

According to the federation, associations related to the industry maintain records of their members. Through them, information about people’s documents and professional qualifications can be collected. However, being a member of an association is not a substitute for a complete background check. If necessary, the production house will have to conduct a separate investigation.

FWICE has also said that if any suspicious activity or potential danger is received during the shooting, police and security agencies should be immediately informed.

Emphasis on safety of technicians and workers along with actors

FWICE has said that security of shooting sets should not be limited only to actors or celebrities. The safety of directors, producers, technicians, artists and other workers is equally important.

The Federation has appealed to producers, filmmakers and various associations of the industry to work together. Under this, caution has been asked at every level, from recruitment of people to entry and security arrangements at the shooting location.
