A young man from Jind has returned to India after saving his life from the clutches of fake travel agents from Kazakhstan. The youth has met Superintendent of Police Kuldeep Singh and pleaded for justice. He shared his ordeal, so that other youth do not become victims of such deception in future. According to the police spokesperson, Dhadhrath resident Hemraj and one of his friends had contacted Jalandhar travel agents Manpreet, Sonu and Parvinder Kaur through phone. The agents finalized a deal to send him to Canada for Rs 22 lakh. On 27 February 2026, the agents sent him a ticket from Delhi to Mumbai. Kazakhstan turned out to be fake: On reaching Mumbai, he was given tickets to Almaty (Kazakhstan), which turned out to be fake at the airport. After which he had to buy a new ticket by spending Rs 33 thousand from his own pocket. On February 28, he reached Almaty, where agents took him to a house and took away all his belongings and his phone. After this, his hands and feet were tied and he was taken hostage. Video made after removing their clothes: On March 1, the agents made a video of both the youths after removing their clothes. To scare his family members, he was beaten and also attacked with blades. The accused tortured him and made a video, in which he was forced to say that he had reached Toronto (Canada) so that his family could pay Rs 22 lakh to the agents. Hemraj, who was freed from the agents by the police, showed wisdom and sent the secret location from his phone to his brother living in America. On March 4, 2026, Kazakhstan police freed Hemraj and his friend from the clutches of agents. They returned home safely on 14 April. Jind Superintendent of Police Kuldeep Singh has appealed that they should thoroughly investigate the agents and get the air tickets verified. He has advised to avoid the temptation of cheap and direct route, give every update to the family members and not to fall into the trap of fake agents.
