A 9-year-old girl died on Wednesday night in Badhal village of Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir. The death toll due to the mysterious disease in Rajouri district has risen to 15, including 12 children. Jammu and Kashmir Police has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the deaths.

9 members of 2 families died in Badhal village between 7 and 16 December 2024. After this, on January 11, 6 children of Mohammad Aslam fell ill, out of which 4 died. A 10-year-old girl died on January 12.

Jammu and Kashmir Health Minister Sakina Masood ruled out the possibility of a mysterious disease being the cause of these deaths in Badhal village. He said that the results of all the tests conducted inside and outside the Union Territory have come negative.

Minister Sakina Masood said that it is necessary to conduct a complete investigation before reaching any conclusion. He said that he is in constant touch with the District Development Commissioner and Senior Superintendent of Police.

Neurotoxin found in the samples of the dead Minister Sakina Masood said that if these deaths were due to some disease, it would have spread rapidly and would not have been limited to just three families. However, some health experts have said that ‘neurotoxin’ has been found in the samples of the deceased.

Awaiting forensic report The Health Minister further said that the government has taken the help of national and international health institutes including Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) of Pune, National Center for Disease Control (NCDC) of Delhi, Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) of Gwalior and PGI. Chandigarh is included.

No negative results have emerged in any of these investigations. Samples of water and food items have also been tested, but no poisonous substance has been detected.

Wajahat Hussain will head the SIT Rajouri Senior Superintendent of Police Gaurav Sikarwar said that an SIT of 11 members has been formed in view of the investigation into the cases of the deceased. It will be presided over by Budhal Superintendent of Police Wajahat Hussain. of this special team The objective is to find out the cause of deaths as soon as possible.
