‘चुनाव में गड़बड़ी हुई, लेकिन सबूत नहीं हैं’, बिहार में पार्टी की हार पर बोले जन सुराज के संस्थापक प्रशांत किशोर

Jan Suraj’s founder and former election strategist Prashant Kishore (PK) has given an open statement for the first time after his party’s crushing defeat in the Bihar Assembly elections. He claimed that the elections appeared to be ‘rigged’, although he also admitted that he currently had no concrete evidence.

We did not get the results we wanted
Speaking to India Today TV Managing Editor Preeti Choudhary, Kishor said that as big as his party’s defeat appears to be, the ground reality does not match it at all. According to him, during Jan Suraj’s journey that lasted for several months, the public’s enthusiasm, support and feedback was very positive, but it was not reflected in the voting results.

‘Some invisible forces were at work’- Prashant Kishore
PK said that many such results were seen in the elections, which showed no logical basis.
He said, ‘There were some invisible forces. Such parties got lakhs of votes which people did not even know about. Some people are telling me that EVMs were tampered with, but I have no proof of this. Still, many things don’t add up. At first glance it seems that something went wrong, but what exactly is not known yet. He said that the voting pattern and ground reports do not match at all, which further deepens this doubt.

Big allegation of distributing money to women
Making another serious allegation, Prashant Kishore said that NDA distributed Rs 10,000 in cash to thousands of women, and this continued from the time the elections were declared till the day of voting. According to him, this amount was only the ‘first instalment’.

He alleged, ‘The women were told that they would get a total of Rs 2 lakh. Rs 10,000 was given in advance and it was said that if she would vote for NDA and Nitish Kumar, the remaining amount would be given later. I Bihar Not only this, I have never seen any government in the country distributing such money to women. According to PK, this was an important factor which influenced the election result.

Fear of return of ‘Jungle Raj’, went against Jan Suraj: PK
PK admitted that by the last phase of the elections, the impression started forming among the voters that Jan Suraj was not in a position to win. He said, ‘People were afraid that if they voted for us and we did not win, then Lalu Prasad Yadav’s jungle raj might return again. Due to this fear also the votes slipped. He believes that this sentiment proved decisive in many areas.

‘The story is not over’
When asked that many political analysts have started writing ‘obituary’ of his political journey, PK said, ‘The people who are criticizing me today were the same ones who used to clap for my victory earlier. Criticism is their job and I am doing mine. If I succeed, the same people will applaud again. All this shows that the story is not over, the story is still left.

Jan Suraj fielded candidates on 238 out of 243 seats in Bihar. The party could not win even a single seat. The vote share was only 2–3 percent. The deposits of most of the candidates were confiscated. Prashant Kishor called it a ‘crushing defeat’, but asserted that this is not the end.
