Bangladesh is preparing a modern air force
Bangladesh is rapidly increasing its air capacity and has taken steps towards creating a modern air force fleet under Force Goal-2030. This initiative was started in 2009, but significant progress was seen after 2017.
J-10CE is already included in China’s Air Force. Defense expert Major General (retd) ANM Muniruzzaman told the media that Bangladesh Air Force has been planning to buy new fighter aircraft for a long time.
He said, ‘In today’s world, new relationships are being formed, hence before purchasing an aircraft from any country, it is necessary to analyze its effects.’ Currently Bangladesh Air Force has 212 aircraft, of which 44 are fighter aircraft. These include 36 Chinese F-7 jets, 8 Russian MiG-29B, and some Yak-130 light combat aircraft.
If this deal is finalized, there will be a big increase in the combat capability of Bangladesh Air Force.
Can buy radar systems from Turkey and Italy
The visits of Air Force Chief Hasan Mahmood Khan to Italy and Turkey in May and October 2025 have opened new avenues of defense cooperation with Bangladesh.
In Italy he visited Leonardo’s plants, where the purchase of advanced radar, tracking systems and helicopter technology was discussed. While in Turkey from 1 to 6 October, he held talks with many defense companies including the Turkish Aerospace Industry.
A possible deal with Turkey for drone technology, anti-missile systems and surveillance equipment has also been discussed. According to inside sources, China still remains the major supplier for fighter aircraft.

India has destroyed Chinese missile
J-10C fighter jet was also included in the fighter jets that Pakistan used against India during the conflict in May. These were foiled by India’s indigenous weapons (such as BrahMos and Akashteer).
Apart from this, China’s PL-15 and HQ-9P missiles, JF-17 fighter jet were also foiled. On 9 May, fragments of a PL-15E missile were also recovered from a field in Hoshiarpur district of Punjab. This missile was made in China. After this, on May 12, the Air Force showed its debris for the first time in a press conference.
Pakistan had fired PL-15E missile made in China from JF-17 fighter aircraft, but it was foiled in the air, due to which it could not reach its target. According to reports, PL-15E missile has been used for the first time in a conflict.
