2. Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat wanted relaxation in sports

When I started protesting too much, these people conspired to defame me and end my career. Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat were wanting relaxation in every game. He had personally asked us to exempt these two people from trials for the Games, but we had refused him too.

Gradually, leaders of the Congress Party also started joining the movement of these people. It was the Congress party leaders who met Babita Phogat and asked these people to sit on the dharna.

Bajrang Punia wanted to become the president because he used to work on the instructions of Deependra Hooda. Deependra Hooda wanted that the post of Indian Wrestling Association President should be removed from Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and on this pretext we would win the Haryana elections.

I am a 7-time MP. I do not do anything that tarnishes my image and that of the party. I already knew that it was Babita Phogat and Tirtha Rana who had given permission for the movement. Later these people had said that the wrestlers will not sit on the dharna, we will sit on the dharna against the Congress party. But instead of sitting on strike against the Congress Party, these people sat on strike against us. These people, along with Babita Phogat, defamed the Bharatiya Janata Party and tarnished the image of PM Modi.

But these people were not successful and we had also opposed this exemption. Junior wrestlers also protested. But the Indian government did not listen to us.

9. Babita Phogat talked to us several times for a compromise

When these wrestlers were sitting on strike against me, Babita Phogat was batting from both sides. First the wrestlers were given permission to sit on strike. When they sat on strike, she kept calling us repeatedly asking for a compromise. Babita Phogat was saying that you leave the post of president, the whole matter will end. You are being insulted, the party is being insulted. But we did not listen to Babita Phogat and I said – I will not resign when we have not done anything wrong. Babita Phogat also got angry with us regarding this matter. Then for the second time he instigated the wrestlers and organized such a huge movement.

10. Wrestlers were running the adhoc committee

During the movement, the Sports Ministry had banned and suspended the activities of the Indian Wrestling Association. After this, the Government of India constituted an ad-hoc committee to oversee the work. The adhoc committee doesn’t even know the ABCs of wrestling. These wrestlers were running that committee, running the Indian Wrestling Association.

We refused several times and only then did the interference of these people end. Otherwise the careers of junior players would have been ruined by now. In this whole matter, the junior players did not support these protesting wrestlers, because they knew that Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh would never let anything wrong happen to them.

Then I got a call from Babita Phogat asking if I was coming. When I called Bajrang, Bajrang said that I am also going, you also come. Then we came to know that we were going to hold such a protest and its permission was given by Babita Phogat and Tirtha Rana.

He wanted Brij Bhushan to move and one of us to sit there. We were happy that the girls got justice. We expected that we would sit at 11 o’clock and our hearing would be done by 1 o’clock, but the movement continued for a long time.

Sakshi Malik said – We have definitely done this much that if someone does sexual harassment then he will think 100 times whether he too should go and protest. Our fight was for our sisters and daughters. This was to end the phenomenon of sexual harassment in sports.
