The accident happened near Uran at around 3:55 pm on Wednesday evening. While going from Mumbai to Elephanta Caves, a Navy patrol speed boat hit the boat near Butcher Island in the Arabian Sea, due to which the boat filled with water and sank.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis told the Assembly at 8:25 that the rescued people have been admitted to hospitals. The state government will give Rs 5 lakh to the families of all the deceased. Police and Navy will jointly investigate the accident.

According to information, relief and rescue operations were carried out with the help of Navy, Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT), Coast Guard, Yellowgate Police Station 3 and local fishing boats.
11 boats of Navy, 3 boats of Marine Police and 1 boat of Coast Guard were involved in the rescue operation. 4 helicopters also engaged in the rescue operation. The passengers were brought back to the Gateway of India. From where he was admitted to different hospitals.
