‘गुस्ताख इश्क’ में दिखेगा 90’s वाला प्यार: विजय वर्मा बोले- रोमांटिक हीरो बनकर लौट रहा हूं, फातिमा ने नसीरुद्दीन संग अनुभव बताया सीखने जैसा

The film ‘Gustakh Ishq’, which shows the simplicity and depth of love of the 90s in a new style, is going to be released soon. Fatima Sana Shaikh and Vijay Verma will be seen together for the first time in this romantic drama directed by Vibhu Puri. The complexities of relationships, love and emotions are presented in the film.

Its special attraction is the music of Gulzar and Vishal Bhardwaj, which the audience is very excited about. Designer Manish Malhotra has produced the film. Recently Fatima and Vijay shared their experiences in a conversation with Dainik Bhaskar. Here are some highlights..

Question- I remember many things about the 90s, especially the true love and emotion of that era. What things do you remember most from that time?

Answer/Vijay: There are many memories of the 90s. Everything had its own fun. Of the weather, of watching a movie, of even standing in line at the theater. At that time one had to wait for everything, but people also enjoyed that wait. When the lights went off, we would talk with family or friends, look through old photo albums, celebrate small joys. The same old beautiful memories will be seen again in this film.

Question: Fatima, what things do you remember from the 90s?

Answer/Fatima: In my childhood, when Disney Channel used to come on at 7 in the evening, all of us children used to leave playing and run to watch TV. At that time there were neither video games nor phones. There was only that snake game, that too on the parents’ phone. The most fun was playing and talking outside with friends every evening. There were neither group chats nor online dating then. We all used to meet in real life, so I remember those days very much.

Question: The innocent love that happened during school time, was it one-sided or two-sided? Share any experience?

Answer/Vijay: It was one sided because we never talked. Maybe it could be a two-way street, but I didn’t get the chance.

Question: Have you ever expressed your feelings?

Answer/Victory: During school, I was very shy and did not talk to anyone much. At the age of 18, I talked to a girl for the first time. He himself sent me a letter, in which it was written – “You look good in a check shirt.” After this we became friends, then after a few years we started dating. After some time our relationship ended, and after that I went to FTI, Pune for studies.

Question: How was the experience of working with Naseeruddin Shah? I heard that you were not able to attend his workshop at FTII, what is the story?

Answer/Vijay: When I was in FTI, Naseer Sahab’s workshop was not held in our batch. His workshop was held in the next batch, so a friend and I went to Pune. We had thought of sitting in the class, but were not allowed to go there because it was the workshop of the second batch.

We sat outside the whole day, just hoping to meet him. In the evening, when Naseer Sahab saw that we were still sitting outside, he smiled and said, “Come tomorrow at 9 am.” This is how we got a chance to attend his workshop.

Question: Fatima, how was your experience working with Naseeruddin Shah?

Answer/Fatima: I enjoyed it a lot. Initially I was nervous because everyone is impressed after seeing his work. I felt that they would judge my performance, so I wanted to give my best. But he is very supportive and caring, always helps, so the experience was very good.

Question: What do you like best about your co-actor Vijay Verma?

Answer/Fatima: Vijay is a very intelligent, talented and good person. He has a great sense of humor, due to which we became good friends. I am happy to have met him.

Question: Vijay, what would you say about your co-star Fatima?

Answer/Vijay: Fatima is very down to earth and simple. No attitude at all, very grounded despite working in big films.

Question: Big names like Gulzar Sahab, Vishal Bhardwaj and Manish Malhotra are associated with your film. The trailer has also received good response, how do you see it?

Answer/Fatima: The trailer and songs have received very good response. It is a great pleasure to work with such great artists. Manish sir showed trust, Naseer ji gave a lot of love and everyone worked together with complete honesty. Now we hope that the audience will love the film as much as we have made it.

Question: Recently you have done many good roles on OTT, now you are returning as a romantic hero, how do you feel?

Answer/Victory: I feel very new, as if I am being born again as an actor. My films are coming to theaters after a long time, that too as a lead. So this is a new beginning for me. I just want the love and support of the audience so that I can keep moving forward.
