Four lion cubs have died due to suspected infection on Tuesday in Gir, Gujarat. The forest department has isolated 17 adult lions and started monitoring and treating them. After this development, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel held a high-level meeting in Gandhinagar. Principal Secretary of Forest and Environment Department, Vinod Rao, who was present in the meeting, said that all the lions within 10 km radius of Gir Gadhara and Babariya area are being closely monitored. Forest Minister Arjun Modhwadia had said on Tuesday that two lion cubs died due to suspected Babesia virus infection, while three other lions died due to natural causes and mutual conflict.
