Heavy rains occurred in Nagpur, Maharashtra during three hours on Friday morning. Water entered many low-lying areas, due to which people were sent to safer places. As a precautionary measure, holidays were declared in schools and colleges. About 50 students were trapped in their college due to floods in Hudkeshwar Nagar of the city, who were rescued.

At the same time, due to heavy rains in Saurashtra, Gujarat on Saturday, villages were cut off and low-lying areas were waterlogged, due to which flood-like situation prevailed in many districts. Relief work has been started here and NDRF teams were deployed.

Dwarka taluka of Devbhoomi Dwarka recorded 163 mm rainfall from 6 am to 6 pm on Saturday, followed by Junagadh at 133 mm and Patan-Veraval in Gir Somnath district at 117 mm.

Since June 27, 40 people have died in rain-related incidents in the state. The state meteorological office on Saturday warned that flash floods may occur in some areas of Sirmaur and Shimla in the next 24 hours. An orange alert has been issued for heavy to very heavy rain, thunderstorm and lightning in different areas of the state on July 23.

Uttarakhand: The weather office has issued a red alert for rain in Uttarakhand for Sunday and Monday and said parts of the state are likely to receive extremely heavy rainfall during this period.
