The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), which led the movement over the NEET paper leak controversy, has warned the Central Government that if the police action against the protesting students is not stopped and the FIRs registered are not withdrawn, then the organization will once again start a nationwide movement. CJP alleges that the government is violating the agreement signed with Union Ministers JP Nadda and Dr. Jitendra Singh on July 25. This warning has come at a time when after the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, CJP had announced to withdraw its 36-day long agitation at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. The organization says that in return for calling off the movement, the government had promised not to take any police action against the protesters, but now on the contrary, students and volunteers are being targeted.

Saurav Das Said that on July 25, the movement was called off after the government accepted their demands, but they already feared that as soon as the pace of the movement slowed down, the students would be targeted one by one. Saurav Das said that before and even after the end of the movement, he kept talking to Kapil Sibal continuously. He alleged that the government’s approach has been to first calm down the movement and then start taking action against the protesters. He said that CJP is helping all those students against whom police action is being taken.
Sibal gave ₹1 crore for legal help of students
in press conference Kapil Sibal Said that no action should be taken against the people involved in the movement. He alleged that governments do not want to listen to the voices of dissent. Sibal said that Union Minister JP Nadda had assured to accept the demands of the protesters, but now CJP alleges that the protesters are being targeted. He announced Rs 1 crore for legal aid to the protesting students. He said a website would be created where affected students would be able to contact lawyers. He appealed to the lawyers across the country to come forward and provide legal help to these students. Sibal said that this fund will be spent entirely on the security and legal aid of the protesters, while the distribution of the fund will be done by CJP.
Panel of lawyers and ‘Sakshi’ platform at district level
Saurav Das thanked Kapil Sibal for his contribution and said that standing with him has boosted the morale of the students associated with the movement. At the same time, CJP member Ratna Singh claimed that seven-eight FIRs have been registered against the protesters in Assam. He alleged that 11 people were arrested in Kolkata, out of which 10 are Muslims. Ratna Singh said that most of the complaints are coming from Bihar, where police brutality was seen. He alleged that serious sections like attempt to murder have been imposed on the protesters and so far 86 people have been arrested. CJP has appealed to the lawyers to help the students.
Saurav Das said that a panel of lawyers will be formed at the district level on the proposed website, so that legal aid can be provided immediately to the students against whom action is being taken. He also alleged that Delhi Police is targeting the people involved in the protest by identifying them through face recognition technology and this matter can also be given a communal colour. Along with this, CJP announced the launch of an online platform named ‘Saakshi’. Saurav Das said that those who have videos and photographs related to police action against students can upload them on this platform. These materials will be used as legal aid and documentary evidence for the students facing action.
