Congress MP Shashi Tharoor had praised PM Modi for raising the issue of Indian sailors at the G7 summit. Now only people from Tharoor’s party are criticizing him.
Pawan Khera on Saturday took a jibe at Tharoor and said – My senior colleague Shashi Tharoor can do anything to praise PM Modi. Now they can also hear those things which Modi never said.
In fact, during the G7 Summit in France on June 18, the PM had raised the issue of the death of Indian sailors during his meeting with Trump. Tharoor had said that PM Modi had made India’s stand clear before the US President.
Tharoor had said that it was important to send a message that in times of war, civilians and sailors working on commercial ships should not be made targets of war. They are not soldiers, and this is the message given by PM Modi.
Pawan Kheda wrote- Modi’s devotees listen more than they speak.
The External Affairs Ministry’s information on the Modi-Trump meeting during the G-7 neither mentions the killing of three Indian sailors in the Gulf of Oman, nor Trump’s claim that trade pressure will bring about a ceasefire between India and Pakistan. There is also no mention of the attack on Iran’s warship IRIS Dena.
Yet, somehow Tharoor ji heard loud words, strong opposition and uncompromising diplomacy, which never came in the official record. Perhaps the rest of us are limited to common human senses. For devotees of ‘Maha-Manav Modi’, the less he speaks, the more he is heard.

June 18: Modi-Trump meeting, issue of deaths of Indians raised
PM Modi had raised the issue of death of Indian sailors in the Strait of Hormuz on both days of the G7 Summit on June 17-18. He had said in the outreach session on the first day of the summit that many Indians have lost their lives in this important sea route and it is the responsibility of all countries to ensure the safety of seafarers connecting global trade.
In the bilateral meeting with Trump, Modi said that the safety of Indians at sea is necessary. It is expected that the security of Indians will be ensured in the deal with Iran. The PM said that it is important for Hormuz to remain open. I praise Trump’s leadership in efforts for peace in West Asia. There is hope for peace under Trump’s leadership.
