Crowds gathered on the streets of Tehran on Saturday for the state funeral of Iran’s former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. On the first day of the six-day long funeral, lakhs of people started arriving at the Grand Mosalla Mosque from early morning to pay their last respects. Officials estimate that 1.5 crore to 2 crore people may participate in the entire program. Khamenei’s coffin was draped in the Iranian flag and placed on the stage. Coffins of other family members killed in the attack were also kept with them. Many people cried on seeing the coffin and many devotees were seen crying bitterly. During this, the crowd continuously raised slogans of ‘Down with America’ and ‘God’s wrath on Israel’. Many people arrived carrying posters demanding revenge.
