Did not reach the set heavy

Mukul was going to appear in the main lead with Preity Zinta in the film ‘Kya Kehna’. However, he was expelled from the project due to not reaching the set and Saif Ali Khan was replaced. The film’s producer Ramesh Taurani mentioned in a conversation with Shosha when Mukul was removed and taking Saif in the film.

‘Dastak’ was the debut film of both Sushmita Sen and Mukul Dev.

He had said- ‘In fact, Saif did not have to say. An actor from Mukul Dev was going to roll this, but he did not come on the set on the first day of the shooting. At around 11 am, someone called the production at around 11 am and asked him where they were, so they said that they were on the way. When he called him again in the afternoon, he said that he is outside RK Studio, but he did not come.

Mukul stood outside the office for hours

Ramesh says that when Mukul did not reach the set of the film, he held a meeting with his team in the dark office. When he was talking about taking Saif in the film with his team, Mukul was waiting for him outside his office. Mukul wanted to tell not to reach the set of the film, but he did not give him a second chance. Also refused to talk to them.

He said, ‘Our set was ready, we had to start shooting. I decided to call Saif. I called Saif and asked if he would be free to meet in the evening, and he agreed. Then I was told that Mukul Dev has come to the office.

I said that I am not interested in talking to them and they should go back home. But they kept waiting outside. When I was leaving to meet Saif, he was standing down in the office, then I talked to him. I was told to Mukul that he is no longer needed in the film. They have broken my trust and they will have to return a signing amount of 50 thousand rupees.

Let me tell you that the film ‘Kya Kehna’ was released in the year 2000. It was a super hit at the box office. Directed by Kundan Shah, the film also featured Chandrachud Singh, Farida Jalal and Anupam Kher in supporting roles. The acting of Saif Ali Khan and Preity Zinta in the film was also highly appreciated. The film won several awards that year.
