Governor Anand Bose has said that Mamata government should take necessary steps soon regarding the Kolkata rape-murder case.

West Bengal Governor CV Anand Bose has directed the Mamata government to call an emergency cabinet meeting regarding the rape-murder and corruption case of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata.

According to media reports, Bose has said that in view of the public demand, Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal should be dismissed and the responsibility should be given to some other officer.

Bose said that the state government cannot escape its responsibilities. The Mamata government cannot remain silent on the rape-murder case and the events that followed. The state should work under the Constitution and the rule of law.

Actually, a trainee doctor was raped in Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College on August 9. After that, her half-naked body was found. Kolkata Police was accused of negligence in the case.

After this, the Calcutta High Court handed over the case to the CBI. The Supreme Court also expressed doubts over the role of the Kolkata Police. After this, protests took place in Kolkata demanding the resignation of the commissioner.

The protesting students met the Kolkata Police Commissioner on September 2. The students gave him a spinal structure regarding the rape murder case.

The protesting students have alleged that evidence has been tampered with in the trainee doctor rape-murder case.
After the case came to light, renovation work was done near the crime scene in the presence of police. How did the commissioner allow this to happen?
The arrested accused Sanjay Roy is just a pawn. Senior officials are being protected. The police is aware of this.
There was violence and vandalism at RG Kar Medical College on the night of August 14. The police did nothing to ensure the security of the college.

The police have been trying to hush up the case since the beginning. We had to wait at the police station until the dead body was taken for post-mortem. Later, when the body of the daughter was handed over to us, a senior police officer offered us money.
Until the last rites were performed, 300-400 policemen had surrounded us, but after the last rites were over, not a single policeman was seen there. What will the family do, how will they go home, the police did not take any responsibility.
When the dead body of the daughter was lying in front of the parents and we were shedding tears, the police were giving money, is this the humanity of the police? The police were saying that they have fulfilled all their responsibilities, is this what is called fulfilling the responsibility?

The governor said- a part of the police is corrupt and a part is politicized

On September 5, Bose said about the rape-murder case- a part of the police is corrupt, while a part has been criminalized and a part has been politicized. The victim’s parents have told me some things which are heartbreaking.

They want justice in this case. The entire Bengali society wants justice. Justice should be done. The attitude of the Bengal government is going from bad to worse. The voice of the people is the voice of God. People want action, no excuse should be made for action.

The Supreme Court had said- such negligence has not been seen in 30 years The rape-murder case was heard in the Supreme Court on 22 August. During this, the CBI told the court that the crime scene has been tampered with. Justice JB Pardiwala said that the role of Kolkata Police is doubtful. I have not seen such negligence in investigation in my 30-year career.
