SIR has started from October 28 in 12 states and union territories of the country.
Political heat has increased over the Election Commission’s announcement of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists in 12 states and union territories. The Chief Ministers of Kerala and Tamil Nadu have come out openly against this.
Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan on Tuesday called it a serious threat to democracy. He said- Despite the constitutional validity of Bihar SIR being under consideration in the Supreme Court, it is not appropriate to implement it in other states.
Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin has called an all-party meeting on November 2 for a united front against SIR. Their main opposition is to not consider Aadhaar as proof of citizenship.
He said that this is a conspiracy to exclude lakhs of genuine voters from the voter list. Expressed concern that those migrant workers who have the necessary documents will also be added to the voter list.
DMK will oppose this at both legal and political levels. Parties fear that this process could change voter demography, which could impact the election results.
However, BJP ally AIDMK has welcomed the SIR. At the same time, BLOs in West Bengal fear violence.

Madhya Pradesh: Case registered for giving wrong information
In Madhya Pradesh, publication of voter enumeration forms and training of BLOs has started across the state from Tuesday. House-to-house survey will be conducted in the entire state from November 4 to December 4.
You have to fill a one page enumeration form. Enumeration Form (EF) will be printed separately for each voter. It is in three parts.

twice the chance to appeal
If a voter’s name is not added to the draft list by mistake, he will get a chance to appeal twice.
The first appeal will be heard by the Collector and the second by the Chief Electoral Officer of the state. If any person gives wrong information in the calculation form, action will be taken against him under the Representation of the People Act.
Voters who are living at any other place can fill their enumeration form online and send it to the BLO. Chief Electoral Officer Sanjeev Kumar Jha said that citizenship documents will not be asked from anyone.
Booth Level Officer (BLO): There will be a BLO at every booth. This officer will go door-to-door and get the voters to fill the forms. There will be 1,000 voters at each booth. A total of 65,014 BLOs are appointed, along with proposed appointment of 7,000 BLOs.
