Congress has its own leaders. The second party is Marxist Communist Party i.e. CPI(M) which has its own leader. The third party is Kerala Congress which has its own leader. Every party wants their leader to become the Chief Minister. Therefore it is difficult to take a decision.
What did Congress do?
Congress President on Saturday Mallikarjun Kharge Called a long meeting. All the important leaders of Congress were present in this meeting. Rahul Gandhi was also there. Senior Kerala leaders Ramesh Chennithala and V.D. Satheesan were also there. Sunny Joseph was also the chief of Kerala unit of Congress. This meeting lasted for more than 3 hours. In this everyone gave their opinion as to who should be the Chief Minister.

Why is 23rd May important?
May 23 is the last date to form government in Kerala. This means that the Chief Minister will have to be made and sworn in by May 23. If this does not happen then the Governor can take action as per the election rules.

All Congress MLAs signed a resolution. It is written in this proposal that all the MLAs allow the Congress leadership to take the decision of the Chief Minister. That means whatever decision Kharge and Rahul take, everyone will accept it.
